Luke 12:49-53
Gospel according to Luke 12:49-53
I have come to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled! But I have a baptism to undergo, and what constraint I am under until it is completed! Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division. From now on there will be five in one family divided against each other, three against two and two against three. They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.

Reflections
The Gospel of Jesus of today reflects on two distinct paths, one that is truth and light and, one that is darkness and deception. The two paths diverge. None can travel two at the same time. No one can walk in the darkness and in the light. No one can claim to be the bearer of light while they walk in the darkness. The two paths entail different ways of thinking, ways of living and being. Jesus thought according to the gospel values of justice and humility. Whoever walks with him will not be put to shame because the truth always triumphs against the darkness and often one spark is enough to sustain the flame of truth and to set ablaze every falsehood and deceit. Jesus promised to accompany us on the path of truth and light until the end of the world when he will come in glory to rule over heaven and earth. Which path is easier to choose? Which path leads to eternal life? Jesus reveals the right path of truth and light. He is the way to the Father.
Poem of the Day | The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
