Gospel Readings

The Roman Catholic liturgical years are divided into three cycles (Years A, B, and C) for Sunday Mass readings. Each cycle focuses on a different Gospel, presenting a diverse scriptural experience over the three years. The liturgical years range from Advent, starting on the last Sunday of November, to the end of November on the Feast of Christ the King. Year A

Year A centers on the Gospel of Matthew, emphasizing Jesus as the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecies. A strong focus is placed on His teachings and the Kingdom of Heaven.

Year B

Year B features the Gospel of Mark, presenting a more action-oriented account of Jesus’ ministry, emphasizing His identity as the Son of God and his suffering and death.

Year C

Year C is focused on the Gospel of Luke, highlighting Jesus’ compassion and care for the marginalized, as well as His call for repentance and the joy of salvation.
