II Vatican Council
Across its history, the Catholic Church has periodically gathered bishops from around the world in what are called ecumenical councils—twenty in total—to reflect on the needs and questions of each era. The most recent of these, the Second Vatican Council, met from 1962 to 1965 and offered a renewed vision for how the Church understands itself, prays, teaches, and engages the modern world. The Council produced a collection of documents that continue to guide Catholic life today, shaping everything from liturgy and Scripture to mission, community, and the Church’s relationship with society. These resources remain a vital reference point for understanding the Church’s life and direction in our time.
